Terms of Service

Terms for using Schoolhouse

These terms cover the Schoolhouse website, the free curriculum, one-time print packs, the unit library, and annual Classroom, School, and Division licenses. If these terms and another document disagree, the order of precedence below controls.

Effective date: October 19, 2026. Last updated: October 19, 2026.

Acceptance

You accept these Terms when you (a) check the box at checkout, (b) sign or accept a quote or order form, or (c) issue a purchase order that references a Schoolhouse quote. Using the free parts of the site also means you agree to these Terms. If you accept for a school or division, you confirm you're authorized to do so.

Order of precedence

If these documents conflict, this order controls.

  1. A signed agreement, quote/order form, or Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
  2. These Terms.
  3. The Privacy Policy.
  4. Other website pages, including pricing, the FAQ, and procurement.

The DPA controls on student-data matters.

Who can use it

Paid licenses are for schools and educators. Staff open licensed materials with a work-email domain on the license. Students do not get accounts.

What we do with personal information, including student information, is in the Privacy Policy. A division that wants a signed agreement uses its Data Privacy Agreement and the DPA procurement pack. This page does not restate that policy.

During the free pilot, students do not create accounts or submit anything to Schoolhouse. The optional grades 9–12 week-1 log is not part of the free pilot. On student-data matters, the DPA controls.

Data-protection, DPA, and deletion requests go to privacy@contact.schoolhouse.space.

Accounts, licenses, and permitted use

Free curriculum pages and the free downloads described on the site stay available without a paid license. Paid materials are the gated teacher-edition components on a site license, print packs, and unit-library files.

LicenseScope, as listed on the pricing page
ClassroomOne teacher, one grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12). All units in that band, print-ready teacher editions, family letters and take-homes, and a standards crosswalk export.
SchoolOne school. Flat site license for unlimited teachers. Everything in Classroom, all authored bands, unlimited teacher access and downloads, and the annual refresh.
DivisionAll schools in the division. Flat site license. Everything in School, procurement and funding-pathway support, and priority input on scope and sequence. The Common Cartridge LMS package is listed as a roadmap item.

The price is the price shown at checkout or in your quote or invoice. School and Division prices are on the pricing page. These terms do not restate those amounts.

The annual refresh is included in School and Division pricing. The Classroom feature list does not include that refresh.

During an active license, licensed schools may share paid materials internally with their own staff and students on password-protected staff drives or LMS courses. There is no public posting and no sharing outside the licensed school or schools.

When a license ends, the licensee must stop using the materials, including printed copies made during the term.

School and Division licenses cover regular instruction at the licensed school or schools only. They do not cover after-school or extended-day programs, even ones the school runs for its own students. Those programs need a separate license. Contact us through the contact form.

During a free pilot, the school may post pilot PDFs on a school-controlled site for its own community (staff, students, and families). If the pilot ends without a paid license, posted pilot PDFs must be taken down within 30 days. That permission is for the free pilot. It is not a redistribution right for paid materials.

Print packs sold on this site are one-time purchases. The file is marked licensed to the buyer email. The unit library is a separate one-time purchase of the AI Foundations unit print packs, including later unit and file updates for that library. The library page says teacher editions and site licenses are not part of the library. A print-pack or unit-library purchase grants the buyer a perpetual, personal, non-transferable license to use the materials in their own classroom or home. There is no redistribution, resale, or public posting.

Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds

Free curriculum has no charge. The free pilot is one school, one grade band (K-2, 3-5, or 6-8; high school is not included), for one semester. Cancel with no questions and no charge. There is no invoice, purchase order, or auto-renew on the pilot itself. See the pricing page, the district FAQ, and the free-pilot FAQ.

Print packs and the unit library are one-time purchases. There is no subscription and no renewal. Refund requests for print packs and the unit library are reviewed case by case. Send them through the contact form. If a refund is issued, access to those downloads ends.

Purchases made through third-party marketplaces (Teachers Pay Teachers and Gumroad) are governed by that marketplace's terms and license, not these Terms, including refunds.

Classroom, School, and Division are available by quote and invoice. Invoiced Classroom, School, and Division licenses renew only with the buyer's written confirmation. They do not auto-renew.

Classroom renews automatically every year at $499 until canceled. You can cancel anytime in the billing portal (Manage billing). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid term. No prorated refunds.

Invoices are due net 30 days from the invoice date unless the quote says otherwise. No late fees are charged. If an invoice is more than 60 days overdue, we may pause access after written notice until it is paid.

If we end a paid license for any reason other than the buyer's material breach, we refund the unused, prepaid portion of the license fee on a pro-rata basis.

Purchase orders and invoices

We accept purchase orders. The procurement page says to remit to Schoolhouse, Virginia, USA, to reference the quote number, and that a W-9 is available on request. A written quote is returned within two business days of a request that names the division, the tier (Classroom, School, or Division), and the target start date.

Access starts within one business day of payment or PO, once the school's email domain is confirmed.

Classroom, School, and Division licenses are invoiced. Invoices are due net 30 days from the invoice date unless the quote says otherwise. No late fees are charged. If an invoice is more than 60 days overdue, we may pause access after written notice until it is paid. Questions go through the contact form.

Intellectual property

The curriculum, the site, and the downloadable materials are owned by Schoolhouse or its licensors. A purchase or a license is a right to use those materials as these terms and your quote describe. It does not transfer ownership. Standards cited on the site, including the Virginia CS SOL and VDOE AI guidance, are alignments to public standards. This page does not claim ownership of those standards.

Acceptable use

Use the site and the materials for school and educator purposes described above. Do not bypass a license check, share a sign-in link so someone outside the license can download paid files, or redistribute paid materials. The Privacy Policy asks that form messages leave out student names and student contact information.

After written notice of a material breach of these Terms (for example redistributing paid materials or misuse that harms the service or other users), we may suspend access, and if the breach is not cured within 30 days after notice, we may terminate the license. Notice goes to the email on the account, order, or quote.

Disclaimers

From Sand to Agents is a supplemental AI curriculum. The pricing page and the about page say it is not a complete computer-science course replacement. Notes on the pricing and procurement pages about Title I, Title IV-A, Perkins V, and other funding pathways are not financial or legal advice. Eligibility varies by division.

Paid materials will substantially match their description. If they don't, and the customer tells us through the contact form within 30 days of purchase, our sole remedy is to fix or replace them or, if we can't, refund the amount paid for them.

The site and materials are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind beyond those the law requires, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. A public school, school division, or other government entity is bound by this disclaimer only to the extent its law allows, as the public-agency sentence below states.

Nothing on this page promises a student outcome, a funding award, or a procurement result.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, each party's total liability under these Terms is limited to the amount the customer paid Schoolhouse in the 12 months before the claim. If the customer paid nothing (for example, free users and pilots), the cap is $100. This cap is subject to the public-agency sentence below and to the order of precedence above.

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data.

These limits do not apply to (a) a customer's breach of the license or redistribution terms, (b) a party's gross negligence or willful misconduct, or (c) obligations in a signed Data Processing/Privacy Agreement, which controls if it conflicts with this section.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you and we consent to those courts.

Public agencies: if you are a public school, school division, or other government entity and your law requires a different governing law or venue, or limits your ability to agree to any term here (including indemnity or limitation-of-liability terms), that term applies to you only to the extent your law allows.

Changes to these terms

We will email material changes to active license holders, at the email on the account, order, or quote, at least 30 days before they take effect, and we will post the updated Terms with a new Last updated date. Non-material changes take effect when posted.

Changes apply to an existing paid license, order, or invoice only from its next renewal or a new purchase, never mid-term. The Terms in effect when a term began govern that term.

Other terms

If a court holds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

These Terms, together with the documents in the order of precedence above, are the entire agreement. They replace earlier discussions about the same subject.

A delay or a choice not to enforce a term is not a waiver of that term.

We may assign these Terms with the business. Customers may not assign them without our consent, except in a school division reorganization.

Neither party is liable for a delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.

When these Terms or a license ends, the following survive: payment owed, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law.

Notices to us go through the contact form, or to privacy@contact.schoolhouse.space for privacy and data matters. Notices to customers go to the email on the account, order, or quote.

Prices exclude applicable taxes. Tax-exempt buyers should send their exemption certificate through the contact form.

Accessibility information is on the accessibility page.
